One person was wounded severely as bullets ripped through her legs leaving her bleeding profusely. The injured, identified as Gloria Ayolo, 24, was rushed to Kotido Health Centre IV in critical condition and later referred to Matany Hospital for proper management.
Police fired live bullets and teargas to disperse supporters of Moses Bildard Adome, the Jie County Member
of Parliament, also an aspirant in the NRM party Primaries in Kotido Municipality. The crowd had converged at Narikapet Ward in Kotido Municipality on Tuesday evening.

Felista Achen, an eyewitness and a resident of the same area
says police asked the gathering to disperse because of the threat of COVID-19. However, after negotiations, the police allowed the meeting to take place on condition that the p[articipants adhere to COVID-19 control guidelines, which include wearing face masks in public places and keeping a safe distance between participants.
Achen, however,
says she was surprised to hear gunshots moments later.

Gloria Faith Auma, another witness said that the circumstances under which the police fired gunshots are unclear. She added that the injured person was shot on both legs.

Kotido Resident District Commissioner Peter Logiro confirmed the incident saying the security team
was reviewing the incident to see if there was excessive use of force by the police. Logiro, however, warned the candidates and the public to
be cautious and ensure that COVID-19 guidelines are upheld.
