Police Gun Recovered, One Arrested

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that the gun was recovered during night operations conducted in Maya, Wakiso District. The gun, an AK47, had three rounds of ammunition.

A man, identified as Abdullah Kyazze, has been arrested with a gun belonging to the Uganda Police Force. Kyazze was reportedly moving with the gun in a sack.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that the gun was recovered during night operations conducted in Maya, Wakiso District. The gun, an AK47, had three rounds of ammunition.

Owoyesigyire said that Kyazze alleges that he was sent to deliver the gun to Nsangi where it was to be kept for a mission, initially planned to take place today, in Nsangi by one man only known as Yazidi.

He adds that upon interrogation, the suspect said that h le have done robberies in areas of Kaleerwe, Luzira, Salama Road, Kabalagala, Namasuba, Nateete, Wakaliga, Busega, and Bweyogerere.

Kyazze is currently in custody while the recovered gun is in police armoury as inquiries continue on case reference Maya Police Post.

The areas of Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono have registered several cases of armed robberies in the recent past.

At least 30 homes and factories have been broken into by armed thugs since September where items ranging from cars, computers, phones and other electronics have been robbed.
