Police Holds 13 for Burning Kole Police Outpost

Residents attempted to lynch two suspected cattle thieves, Nelson Elum and his son-in-law Daniel Okello who were in detention at Alemi Police Out-Post. However, they were overpowered by the police who fired live bullets and teargas.

Police in Kole District are holding 13 suspects accused of masterminding the attack on Alemi Police outpost in Ayer Sub County.

The suspects allegedly attacked the outpost on Monday and burnt two motorcycles.

Those in custody include Bileo Ojok, Jack Nam, Thomas Okullo, Abraham Owera, Denis Onume, Vincent Okello, Daniel Ojok, and Moses Ogwang among others.

The suspects are all residents of Alemi trading Centre, Ayer Sub County in Kole District.

The angry residents then burnt the police outpost and two motorcycles. 

North Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Peter Nkulega says that police us still hunting for 10 more suspects. 

Police has preferred charges of arson, malicious damage and threatening violence against the suspects.

Julius Ongu, the Kole District community Liaison Officer said they have also embarked on community policing to sensitize against abuse of law.

Last month, an angry mob in Kole district lynched four suspected cattle thieves in the sub Counties of Bala and Alito.
