Mbale Police are searching for an unidentified driver of a fuel
tanker registration number SSD 153Q/SSDNO 286, following a collision with a Boda
boda rider.
The incident occurred Wednesday along the Mbale-Tororo highway,
near the Hared pump fuel station, opposite the Mbale police barracks.
According
to Roger Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the fuel tanker was
traveling from Mbale to Tororo and attempted to overtake a taxi parked along
the roadside.
During the overtaking maneuver, the fuel tanker collided with a
Boda boda rider, who has not yet been identified.

By the time of publishing this
report, the body of the boda boda rider had been transported to the Mbale city
mortuary for a postmortem examination. The police have stated that once the
driver is apprehended, they will face charges of murder and reckless driving.
