Police Identifies Bundibugyo Accident Victims

Police on Sunday identified the dead as Badhedwe Federesi, 31 years, Godwin Amanya, 18, Moreen Asiimwe 23, Rhoda Thungu 46 and Tom Bahemuka 36.
Police have identified victims of a road accident that claimed lives in Bundibugyo District on Saturday evening.  

Five people lost their lives and scores survived with serious injuries in an accident that occurred in Bugombwa. 

Police on Sunday identified the dead as Badhedwe Federesi, 31 years, Godwin Amanya, 18, Moreen Asiimwe 23, Rhoda Thungu 46 and Tom Bahemuka 36. 

The Bundibugyo district traffic officer, Ajeti Salim Musa told URN that the driver  of the vehicle is still on the run. 

The accident happened when an Isuzu forward registration number UBL-317R carrying mourners from the burial in Nyahuka town council to Ntotoro sub county overturned at the hill of Bugombwa. 

Ajeti said that preliminary investigations point to a mechanical fault but they are still carrying out more investigations. 

He added that the injured are being treated in facilities within and outside Bundibugyo district.

In October last year, two people died on spot when a motorcycle they were traveling on collided with an oncoming vehicle  as the rider tried to overtake a fuso canter in Busaru along Bundibugyo-Nyahuka road.
