Police Impounds MPs Vehicle Cited in Robbery Attack

The car registration number UAZ 523F was seized within Iganga town where Naigaga had gone to attend an event, last evening, following a report filed by one Tabitha Minsa, indicating that the same vehicle was used to rob her early this year.
A saloon car belonging to Namutumba Woman Member of Parliament Mariam Naigaga has been impounded by the Police.

The car registration number UAZ 523F was seized within Iganga town where Naigaga had gone to attend an event, last evening, following a report filed by one Tabitha Minsa, indicating that the same vehicle was used to rob her early this year.

Minsa says that her attackers, who were driving the vehicle in question, intercepted her from Bugiri, moments after withdrawing 45 million Shillings from the Bank. She registered a case of theft at Bugiri police station under CRB/138/2019.

“I was standing outside centenary bank, Bugiri branch, when two men came out of that particular saloon car, snatched my bag and drove off towards Busia side,” Minsa told URN.

But in her earlier statement to Police, Naigaga indicated that her car was never used outside Kampala throughout the month of February.  “this car was in Kampala at the time of the said robbery,” reads the statement in part.

Busoga East Police Spokesperson James Mubi says that the car will be handed to Bugiri police station for further investigation.  Mubi adds that police have called on Naigaga to make an additional statement at Bugiri Police Station. He declined to divulge details.
