Police in Lira Investigate Death of Unidentified Man

The deceased whose identity is not yet clearly established is suspected to have been killed by unknown persons who dumped the body and fled immediately.

Police at Lira Central Police Station are looking for the relatives of a 40 year old man who was killed and his body dumped by unknown assailants in Senior Quarters A, Lira City East division on Thursday near Akii Bua Memorial stadium.

The deceased whose identity is not yet clearly established is suspected to have been killed by unknown thugs. It is alleged that the deceased’s body was dumped by the assailants who fled immediately. 

The North Kyoga Region Regional Police Spokesman James Ekaju asked anybody whose relative of about 30 to 40 years is missing to go to Lira Regional Referral hospital mortuary and check the body.

Ekaju said up to now people who dropped this dead body cannot be traced since they fled with a vehicle whose Registration number has not yet been established.

Albert Eloto, the Chairman of Senior Quarters A, told Uganda Radio Network that he was informed by locals in the area who witnessed the incident. He said that the suspected wrong doers brought the dead body in a grey Pajero vehicle, dropped it near the new Akii Bua Memorial stadium and drove away before they were noticed by the locals.

The North Kyoga Regional Police Commander Paul Nkore said police has already launched investigation into the gruesome murder. Nkore asked the public to avail police with any necessary information in connection to the incident.
