Police Investigates Death Of Two People in Kitgum

A police officer who preferred anonymity says that Ssembatya had been conducting training with a team of doctors from the health Ministry from Kampala before his demise.
The Police in Kitgum district are investigating circumstances that led to the death of two people in a space of two days.

This follows the recovery of the body of Aloysius Ssembatya, a Lab Technician from Eden guest house in Pager division on Wednesday. Another body of unidentified man was on Thursday found in the same division.

A police officer who preferred anonymity says that Ssembatya had been conducting training with a team of doctors from the health Ministry from Kampala before his demise.

He says the deceased had booked the Guest House since Sunday but notes that yesterday morning as his colleagues checked on him, he was non-responsive prompting a forceful break-in.

“The deceased had been training a group of health workers in the district accompanied by doctors from Kampala, it was his third day but on the fateful morning, he didn’t respond to his colleague’s calls. He was found dead when the door was forcefully opened,” he says.

Robert Ogen the Officer in Charge of Criminal investigation at Kitgum Central police station notes that the body was taken to Gulu Regional Referral hospital accompanied by some of his colleagues for post-mortem to establish the cause of his death.

Ogen also says that the second body is of a man suspected to have been hit on the head by suspected thugs and his motorcycle stolen.

This is the third time in less than a month that unknown thugs are targeting cyclists and stealing their motorcycles within Kitgum Municipality.
