The Busoga North Police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha says that 12 children and one adult perished from the villages of Kabugudo, Nabweyo, and Nakabembe in Kidera town council Buyende district.

They include Lukia Namusana, Nusurah Tusubira, Rajab Tizomu, Shafa Wikyo, Kawa Tumwebaza, Tony Kasujja, Dawton Okiya, Livingstone Byabo, Immaculate Igonda, Angel Namatu, Hasifa Muchweke, and 30 year old, Friday Kaawa.

The five deceased persons from the sub-counties of Balawuli and Namusagali in Kamuli district include; Feluka Nangobi, Siraj Bagole, Rose Kasowole, Annet Suubi, and Marvin Nandomi.

Kasadha stresses that the bodies were recovered and handed over to the relatives for burial.

Charles Lwigi, the Speaker of Buyende District says that the affected families of the deceased lack funds to facilitate funeral arrangements.

“I urge the disaster ministry to ensure that, the deceased persons have a decent send-off because most their family members have expressed lack of funds to facilitate funeral arrangements as most of their belongings were washed away in the hailstorm,” he said.

The in- charge of Kidera Health Centre IV, Anthony Kwiri has expressed fear that more death may occur due to insufficient drugs to cater for the victims.

“I have received 145 victims at the health facility, 75 were given first aid and discharged whereas 70 are still admitted, and their conditions can be managed by the available staff, however, we lack the drugs to treat them,” he said.
