27-year-old Eliot Kabangira, a resident of Bubare 1 Rutooma Kitagata.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, says the deceased’s
father, Charles Kahuhe filed a case of threatening violence at Kitagata police
station on Tuesday evening.
In his complaint, Kahuhe claimed that the deceased
had threatened to kill him, his sibling and their casual labourer.
According to
Tumusiime, on Wednesday morning Ndebesa and another police officer he didn’t mention
went to arrest the suspect.
He resisted arrest and turned violent. He later ran
into the house prompting one of the officers to pursue him.
Tumusiime explains
that the suspect locked up the officer in the house and picked up a machete he
used to attack Ndebesa who had remained outside. This prompted Ndebesa to shot him in the head
killing him instantly.
