Police Probes Death of Engineering Student in Mbale

Sipi Region Police Spokesperson Rogers Taitike says police has already arrested a bodaboda cyclist identified as Nelson Chelimo, 35, for allegedly participating in the attack that ended Cherops life.

Police in Sipi region has opened investigations into the death of a former Civil Engineering Student, whose body was found lying in a pool of blood this week. The deceased, identified as Jackson Cherop, 39, a student of Uganda Technical College, Elgon. He was a resident of Mutegeru village in Kapchorwa district.

Sipi Region Police Spokesperson Rogers Taitike says police has already arrested a bodaboda cyclist identified as Nelson Chelimo, 35, for allegedly participating in the attack that ended Cherop's life.  

He said that according to preliminary investigations, the deceased was killed over a mistress.

The deceased Uncle Wilson Soyekwo told URN that the deceased was last seen on Tuesday evening supervising road works at Sipi. He had been deployed at Kapchorwa local Government for internship and was due to complete the task on Friday.

Pascal Emodu, the former Guild President of Elgon Technical Institute, Mbale describes the deceased as a friendly, lovely, disciplined, humble person.
