The Police Flying Squad Unit has recovered a firearm from two suspected thugs picked up in Wakiso district. Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson identifies the suspects as Denis Ssekimbe and Isaac Kigozi. The duo was arrested by the police flying squad as prime suspects of robberies in Wakiso district, specifically in Kakiri areas.

Their arrest stemmed from a case of aggravated robbery that was reported at Kakiri Police on March 19th, 2021 following the raid on the home of local businessman, Issah Mugarura by three armed men. The thugs shot Mugarura on the right leg before making off with two motorcycles and one Techno smartphone.

“Police responded and a motorcycle registration number UEQ 611E, which the thugs were moving on was recovered, abandoned. We conducted an operation where a number of suspects were later arrested including the two suspects, Denis and Isaac,” said Owoyesiyire.

During interrogations, Kigozi informed police that Ssekimbe was keeping the gun that they used in the foiled robbery and was responsible for shooting Mugarura.

On Wednesday evening, Ssekimbe led the Kakira police commander and Flying Squad Unit to the support, where they had hidden the gun.

According to Owoyesiyire, the recovered firearm belongs to Security plus Co. LTD and was stolen from a construction site.
