Police Recover NBS Television Property in Lira

James Ekaju, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, says the suspects are locked up on charges of robbery pending their appearance in court.

Some of the items stolen from NBS television reporters while covering the campaign trail of the National Unity Platform-NUP, Robert Kyagulayi Ssentamu in Lira City a few weeks ago have been recovered. The missing items were recovered from five suspects, who are currently locked up in connection to the November 12, 2020 incident.

 

The items include a laptop, Techno smartphones and a modem. James Ekaju, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, says the suspects are locked up on charges of robbery pending their appearance in court.

Key among the suspects is the Dokolo District Fishery Officer identified as Bernard Otim, a resident of Angwet-angwet Ward, Lira City East Division in Lira City.

Otim faces independent charges of aggravated robbery and malicious damage vide SD reference 49/12/11/2020.

“We conducted a search at the premises of the suspect but no exhibits were recovered from there. However, we took him under custody to help with further investigations,” Ekaju said.

Ekaju has also warned bar owners against operating at night in violation of the nighttime curfew.     Eng byte:
