Tofilista Nambi, a resident of the area stumbled on the items while tilling her garden. Nambi told URN that she hit a metal while digging and resolved to unearth it only to realize that it was a gun.

“While digging in the morning around 6:30 am, my hoe hit a metal. I decided to open the ground extensively, only to see a gun and other sharp instruments. Police authorities have since inspected the garden and retrieved the gun and some sharp instruments hidden in different parts of the garden,” she said.

Rodgers Kudeera, a resident of the area, says since most farmers have been harvesting their crops in the past two months, it would be hard for anyone to notice a foreign element planted in their gardens.

“We have experienced close to a three month's dry spell and most farmers were concentrating more on reaping their harvests. Therefore, it is hard for anyone to notice any suspicious activity on the farm, unless when they are preparing the land for another planting season,” he said.

Busoga North Regional police spokesperson, Michael Kasadha confirms the incident, adding that, inquiries are underway.
