Soroti police have recovered two children
believed to have been kidnapped by unknown people. One of the rescued children,
aged two and half years has been identified and reunited by her parents.
David Ongom, the East Kyoga Region Police
Spokesman, says the child’s disappearance was reported on May 27th, 2020 by her
father, Isaak Oran, a Police officer in Lira district.
He says they started investigating the case and identified Hellen
Adongo as the mastermind of the kidnap. Adongo was sighted with the child in
Soroti town on Tuesday.
She fled into hiding abandoning the child with a
Boda-boda cyclist believed to be her accomplice.

identified as John Michael Egenu also abandoned his Bajaj motorcycle,
registration Number UEW 155R with the child and fled the scene.
Ongom says the cyclist later handed himself to police after
his motorcycle was impounded from the scene.

Ongom reveals that few hours after the arrest of the Boda-
boda cyclist, Police received information that there was unidentified child aged
2 years abandoned at the home of Ewiku, a resident of Omodoi village, Katine
Sub Sounty in Soroti district.
Ongom says police rushed to the scene and
recovered the child. They handed her to AMECET- Youth with a Vision, an
orphanage and a Nongovernmental Organization based in Soroti town pending

By the time of filing this story, Odongo was still on the
run. Information indicates that Adongo is a businesswoman and resident of Kengere
Ward in Eastern Division in Soroti municipality.
