Police in Moroto have stopped independent presidential candidate, Amama Mbabazi from travelling to rural areas in Karamoja for his campaigns citing security concerns.
The decision came after Mbabazi decided to travel to Tapac Sub County for a rally this morning. However, Police stopped him saying the villages were insecure.
Richard Aruk Maruk, the Mt. Moroto Regional Police Commander confirmed the development saying it was unsafe for Mbabazi to travel to Tapac.
He explained that the Tapac and Nadunget Sub County had been hit with raiders picking animals, an issue that has caused insecurity in the area.

Maruk denied reports that they had also blocked Mbabazi from holding rallies in Moroto Municipality. He said police had received a letter from the Muslim community asking Mbabazi to relocate to Boma ground.
Mbabazi had opted to hold a rally in Camp Swahili being a busy commercial center in Moroto Municipality.
Sheik Mohamed Akida, one of the local Muslim leaders confirmed that they asked Mbabazi to relocate to Boma Grounds for fear that his rally would disrupt prayers.
