Residents in Buvuma district have decried the poor roads which have affected business.

Buvuma district was created in 2010 after it was split from Mukono district.

The roads in the district are dusty and filled with many potholes. The most affected roads are in Kilongo and Kulume villages, which connect to Buvuma islands.

Sarah Namuyangu, a resident of Kulume blames the district leadership for doing nothing to address the poor road network.

Namuyangu, a banana trader, says when it rains heavily, the road is impassable and her produce is wasted since it can't be transported to the market.

Mark Ssali, the Uganda National Roads Authority-UNRA Public Relations Officer, says that some of the roads in the district were maintained by UNRA, but destroyed by the heavy rains.

He, however, says that a team from UNRA will soon inspect the roads.
