PSU Investigates Three Cops for Influencing Rape Case

The Police Professional Standards Unit–PSU is investigating three cops in Soroti accused of pocketing a bribe of 4 million shillings to kill a rape case involving Rauji Pindoria Vishran, an Indian businessman. Pindoria was arrested on November 14thfor allegedly raping a female cleaner but was released a day after under unclear circumstances.

 

He is attached to Ambitious Construction Company, which is undertaking construction work at Soroti secondary school. Philip Acaye, the East Kyoga Regional Police commander says he ordered the investigations after receiving complaints against three cops he declined to identify.

 

Acaye only says one of the implicated cops is attached to the investigations department. According to Acaye, the trio is accused to have influenced the rape victim to withdraw the complaint against the accused after receiving money from the suspect.

Acaye warns that if found guilty the suspects will face disciplinary. He claims that the suspects have been making threatening phone calls to the rape victim to reprimand her for revealing their deal.

 

Acaye told URN that, the file of the rape case against the Indian has been forwarded to the Director Public Prosecution (DPP) in Kampala. He says senior Police officials in the East Kyoga Region have developed interest in the case.
