Rain Disrupts Bukanga Polls

The rain, which started at about 8.00amforced presiding officers to suspend voting at some polling stations. They subsequently took shelter in the neighboring houses, schools and shops.

A heavy downpour has this morning disrupted voting in Bukanga County where constituents are voting for a Member of Parliament

The rain, which started at about 8.00amforced presiding officers to suspend voting at some polling stations. They subsequently took shelter in the neighboring houses, schools and shops.

Most of the disrupted polling stations are in Ngarama and Kashumba Sub-counties.

Meanwhile, Allegations of malpractices and voter bribery are also raging on, with isolated chaotic scenes withnessed in some centers.

The LC one chairman for Kibengo village in Ngarama sub county James Tumwine was also seen distributing money to voters. He was chased off the scene by the security personnel.

At Juru Polling station in Kashumba a police constable in uniform identified as seargent Fridaywho claimed to be aiding old women to vote was caught attempting to stuff ballot papers into the box

The Isingiro district Police commander Norman Musinga says the officer will be transferred from the polling station.

The ballot is seeking for a member of parliament to replace fallen MP Gregory Matovu. Matovu succumbed to cancer in September.

In the race is NRM’s Steven Kangwagye, DP’s Shafique Dembe, FDC’s Tito Turiyo, independent candidates Nathan Byanyima and Pastor Abel Tumusime .
