Dr. Liilly Ajarova, the Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer said they have identified 20 other points from the equator that will be developed.
The Ministry of Tourism has commissioned
the newly refurbished Equator monument at Kikorongo, Kasese District.
The monument was commissioned by the Minister
of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Col Tom R Butiime on Saturday.
Dr. Liilly Ajarova, the Uganda Tourism
Board Chief Executive Officer said they have identified 20 other points from
the equator that will be developed.
She said the monument is expected to
open opportunities for private individuals to consider the investment openings
that are coming along with this attraction.

Recently, Jackline Besigye, the
acting commissioner of museums and monuments, said they are considering to turn the monument into an income generating spot for the ministry. She noted that many people have visited the area and taken pictures..
Besigye said the monument is part of
the on-going plans by government to renovate all of monuments.
There are 13 countries around the
world where equator crosses the main roads.
Basaija is a graduate of Uganda Christian University (UCU-Mukono) holding a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication.
He is a currently pursuing a fellowship in Gender Communications at Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications Nairobi, Kenya and expected to graduate in 2025.
He also boosts of numerous training's in the journalism arena.
Before joining URN, he had served as documentation support personnel, radio presenter and a news editor.
