The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has dismissed as fake a write up circulating on social media announcing that Primary Seven and Senior Four results will be released on 10th and 17th of January respectively.
The message purportedly authored by Dan Odongo, the Executive Secretary of UNEB and widely circulated on WhatsApp and Facebook platforms stated that marking was completed before start of the festive season and results set for release.
According to the message, one of the reasons for such an early accomplishment of work was to ‘enable students get ample time to prepare for the next level' of their education.
Odongo, however, distances himself himself from the message and dismisses it as ‘fake'.
Asked the probable date when the results will be released, Odongo declined to divulge details arguing that it is work still in progress. He says UNEB and the Ministry of Education and Sports are yet consulting on a suitable date before end of January.
While Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results have over the years been released in the first or second week of January, Odongo's response indicates that the release of the results is expected to delay.
A total of 640,860 sat for PLE from November 2nd to 3rd, 2016. The results for 323,003 candidates who sat for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) will be released in February, and so are the results for the 104,361 Advanced Level candidates, according to Odongo.
