Residents of Namirembe landing site have petitioned the Masaka Resident District Commissioner to investigate Pasue Enterprises Limited over shoddy work.

The company is accused of poorly constructing a waterborne toilet in the area. Namirembe fishing village which is located in Kyanamukaka Sub County has a population of over 2000 people.

In October, the toilet was handed over to the leaders and residents by the contractors.

The residents and their leaders on Wednesday handed over the petition to Masaka RDC Herman Ssentongo during a visit to the landing site.

Residents led by the village chairperson, George Kiwanuka argue that the 20 million shillings allocated for the construction of the 5 stance toilet was allegedly misappropriated.

Kiwanuka says that the contractor used three-inch diameter pipes which are of poor quality instead of the standard four-inch pipes, which has caused flooding of the toilet.

Nanono Kakande the Kyanamukaka Sub County councillor says that the person hired to clean the toilet is at the threat of contracting diseases since the toilet is always flooded with dirty water.

Ssentongo says that he will investigate the matter. He also questioned why the contractors decided to construct a waterborne toilet at the landing site.

Elias Juko Masaka District Engineer says that they are going to ask the contractors to redo the work or else they will not be paid the balance.
