Residents of Kigongi ward in Central division, Kabale municipality have petitioned the municipal authorities over an unfinished road.

The residents in the ward say that they have been angered by the shoddy work done on the road from Katuna road junction, through Kigongi to Nyakahita.

Residents are concerned about the current state of the road which was supposed to be upgraded to tarmac but only bush clearing was done and work stalled.

Kellen Kaganga, a resident of Kigongi ward, says that the road is now in a sorry state after the contractor Dewans Services Limited failed to complete the work.

She says that although the authorities use the same road to the Central Division offices, they have not done anything to task the contractors to work faster on the road.

Leopold Twesigye, an area resident, wonders how municipal council can fail to supervise work on a 2.5 kilometers road.

Cue out:..not half  way.”//

Denis Kangume, another resident, says that that they will only wait up to the end of this month for the municipal authorities to hold the contractor accountable or else they fill the road with stones and garbage since it will no longer be useful.

He says that they also want the road re-designed as the contractor opened part of the road leaving a big part untouched.

Augustine Bujara, the Kabale Municipality town clerk, says that he has received reports about the road and that he has already instructed the municipal engineer to investigate the matter and come up with a comprehensive report to enable them plan on what to do next.

He said that he had also received the preliminary reports about this road adding that, he will call the municipal, engineer Alex and the responsible stakeholders and the contractor and they redesign it.
