Obore, who is due for retirement around March this year after clocking the mandatory retirement age has been moving around Bukedea district seeking views from the voters about his political aspirations.
Martin Okiria Obore, the outgoing head teacher of Soroti
Secondary School has announced intentions to replace the fallen Bukedea LC V
Chairperson, Moses Olemukan.
Obore, who is due for retirement around March this year
after clocking the mandatory retirement age has been moving around Bukedea
district seeking views from the voters about his political aspirations.
He joins Olemukan’s 28- year- old daughter, Loyce Akiror who
offered to replace her father during the burial on December 27, 2022. The Bukedea LC V
seat has attracted more than five aspirants including businessmen, politicians, and civil servants.
According to Okiria, his decision to join the race is
informed by the division among the political leadership and poor service
delivery in the district.
“I never thought about politics until people realized that I
was retiring soon. Since the demise of our LCV chairperson, people have been interested in the politics of Bukedea. If circumstances permit, I will first want to
talk to Akiror who is my daughter and my former student at Ngora High School,
where I was a head teacher,” he said.

Cue out…a lot of lobbying.”//
Before joining Soroti Secondary School in 2019, Okiria was
the head teacher of Ngora High School for eleven years. He has worked with
different institutions across the country on education-related matters.
Okiria has been the chairperson of the secondary school head
teachers’ association in Uganda, a member of the National Curriculum Development
Centre (2019-2022), a UNATU national executive member, and a member of the
central scholarship committee at the ministry of education and sports, among
other responsibilities.
Okiria says that his decision to join the Bukedea LCV race
is to offer a service for the development of the district.

the former LCV Chairperson, Tycus Ebukalim Okwi.

William Otum. The Electoral Commission is yet to set a date for the
Bukedea LCV Chairperson by-election. The Bukedea LCV Chairperson seat fell

2022.
