Rugaaga Health Center IV has received theatre equipment worth 17 Million
Shillings from Bulamu Healthcare international.
The equipment comprises of surgeons stool, sterilizers, patient stretcher with
castors, Laryngoscope set, Oxygen regulator, Caesarean set and generator among
Since its construction in 2013, the theatre has been non-functional due to a
lack of equipment.
The facility serves Bukanga North and South that comprises 13 Sub counties and
two town councils with a population of about 160,000.
Claire Nyamwiza a resident of Nyabubare says the biggest challenge
that they have been facing is during caesarean referrals which she says was dangerous
sometimes due to long distances.

Fiona Nalweyiso a resident of Rwanyagabo says that expectant mothers have been
spending 100,000 Shillings to get ambulance services to referral hospitals.
Dr Edson Tumusherure the Isingiro District Health Officer says
that out of the four Health centre IVs in the district only two theatres have
been functional. He says that equipping the facility is expected to improve
health service delivery in the district and also spare residents the hassle of
moving long distances to access health services.

Mathias Tushabe, Chairperson Rugaaga town council says due to lack of an
operational theatre, coupled with poor roads most expectant mothers have died
or lost babies while being transported to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital or
Rwekuubo Health Center IV.

is a piece of full operational equipment worth US dollars 5,000.
The other Health Centre IVs in the district include Kabuyanda, Rwekubo and Nyamuyanja.
