Our reporter approached Kasese Central Police Station to seek a comment on the arrest of the Prime Minister, but he was turned away on the orders of Asuman Mugenyi, the Director Operations Uganda Police Force. Mugyenyi has pitched camp in Kasese for close to a month.
The arrest of Kitsumbire comes a day after Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere, the King of Rwenzururu Kingdom and 161 Royal guards appeared before Jinja Chief Magistrate's court
to answer 41 different counts including treason, terrorism, murder, attempted murder, robbery and malicious damage to property.
The charges stem from several attacks on police stations in Kasese and the November 26th clashes, which resulted into the death of 16 police and 49 royal guards. Mumbere and 149 Royal guards were arrested on November 27 in a UPDF raid on his Buhikira Palace.
