According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, the first case involves the murder of Annet Nambuya, a 32-year-old businesswoman and resident of Katete Central cell, Mbarara City. Nambuya was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assailants while smoking a pipe under a tree on Tuesday night.
Three murder cases were reported in Rwizi region on Wednesday morning.
Two of these cases were brought to the attention of Mbarara City South Division
Police Station, while the third was recorded at Mbarara Police Station in
Rubindi.
According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police
spokesperson, the first case involves the murder of Annet Nambuya, a
32-year-old businesswoman and resident of Katete Central cell, Mbarara City.
Nambuya was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assailants while smoking a
pipe under a tree on Tuesday night.
Police utilized a canine to track the assailants, leading to the
discovery of a sharp machete stained with blood, about 50 meters away from the
crime scene. Additional items found as evidence include a sharp knife, black
knickers, an Infinix Phone, a watch, and a smoking pipe wrapped in a polythene
bag. In the second case, Kasasira reveals that the police are
currently searching for a man only identified as Saidi, who stabbed his
partner, Phionah Ninsiima, aged 22, also a businesswoman and resident of Katete
Central cell.
The incident took place Tuesday night and was likely the result
of a misunderstanding between the two. Saidi allegedly accused Ninsiima of
having extramarital affairs, leading to a violent confrontation and her
subsequent stabbing on the right side of the stomach. Ninsiima succumbed to her
injuries after losing a significant amount of blood.
The deceased's body was
transported to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem,
while efforts to apprehend Saidi are ongoing. Additionally, in Rubindi, Mbarara District, an incident occurred
where a suspect, identified as Gerald Tibigarukamu, aged 45, was shot and
killed by the police after attempting to harm an armed officer.
Tibigarukamu
was wanted by the police in connection with a threatening violence case
reported at Rubindi Police Station. When approached by two police officers and the LC1 Chairman to
be taken to the police station, he resisted and threatened the officers with a machete.
In response to the threat to the life of an armed officer, the other officer
discharged bullets, fatally shooting Tibigarukamu in the head.
Esther Kagyema, the Mbarara District Police commander, confirmed that earlier on Tuesday, a case was reported by Godwin Tumwine alias Kashaija, who claimed that the deceased had threatened to kill him with a panga after demanding money. The wife of the deceased, Godiva Beberireho, stated that her husband had returned home angry the previous night and threatened to kill her for unknown reasons.
She fled the home, only to receive the news that her husband was shot dead in the early hours of the morning. Following the incident, police from Rubindi Police Station visited the scene and recovered the machete as part of their ongoing investigations. The body of the deceased was taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination
