Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire is the new Tooro Kingdom prime minister, replacing Steven Kiyingi, who has served since August 2022. Kiyingi’s appointment had sparked divisions within the Kingdom’s Supreme Council, with some leaders questioning whether he was a Mutooro or even a Ugandan.
Rwomiire previously served as the third prime minister in charge of planning and investments, a position he was appointed to by Tooro King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru in September 2024. Harriet Nyakake remains the first deputy prime minister, while Henry Basaliza has been appointed second deputy prime minister, and William Kwemara Ngabu takes up the role of third deputy prime minister.
