SBI International On the Spot over Shoddy Work

SBI international, a road construction firm is under the spot for alleged shoddy work on Kabale-Kisoro Road. SBI international was contracted by government to construct Kabale-Kisoro road. However, Kabale district officials claim that some sections of the new road have started peeling off. They also claim that the road has developed cracks in Muko and Ikumba sub counties.

Pastori Twinomuhangi, the LC V councilor Muko sub county says the company filled soil in swaps, which compromised the quality of work. Patrick Besigye Keihwa, the Kabale LC V chairperson says the district leadership is concerned at the rate at, which the road is peeling off at Heisesero in Muko Sub County near Lake Bunyonyi and Bwindi Trading center in Inkumba Sub County.

 

He says there is urgent need to attend to the road which links Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic republic of Congo.

Robert Byekwaso, the Kabale UNRA Station engineer says they are following up the concerns raised by district officials. He says plans are underway to engage the contractors to ensure that the mess is addressed. SBI international could not be reached by our reporter for a comment on the matter
