Asadu Wamala, the headteacher of Wamala Day and Boarding Secondary School who is accused of aggravated defilement and indecent assault has been committed to the High Court for trial.

Wamala was on Tuesday committed together with the school matron Nansubuga Haliima by the Mpigi Grade One Magistrate Maurine Mukhoye.

State prosecutor Justine Nakayiza told court that investigations into the case have been completed and the state is ready to start prosecution.

According to prosecution, it is alleged that in October, Wamala while at his school located in Mpigi town council with the aid of Nansubuga defiled two teenagers aged 16 and 17 years old respectively. He was also accused of indecently assaulting another underage girl from the same school.

Wamala was arrested, charged and later granted bail by the same court, but President Yoweri Museveni intervened and ordered for his re-arrest and fresh charges were slapped against him.

The president wondered why Wamala was charged with indecent assault after sexually abusing teenagers.
