Supporters of the National Unity Platform have been remanded to Kitalya Government prison on offenses of inciting violence, destroying people’s property after the arrest of NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s arrest.
Over 100 supporters of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu have been remanded to Kitalya Government prison on offenses of inciting violence and destroying people’s property after the arrest of National Unity Platform presidential candidate’s Arrest.
These supporters were brought from different parts of Wakiso, one group was from Nansana Municipality and another from Wakiso and all were arraigned in Wakiso Grade One Magistrate's court.
The accused were on Friday afternoon arraigned before Wakiso Grade one Magistrates Aloysius Natwijuka and they were charged with different offenses.
Court heard that the accused persons and others on the run on November 18 and 19 in Nansana Masitowa and Wakiso at large incited violence, destroying people’s property but the accused denied the charges.
Prosecutor Ramulah Ddamba said that investigations are still ongoing on and they need more time and when they complete the investigations they will present the evidence to the court.
His worship Natwijuka remanded that accused to Kitalya government prison and the accused will appear in court on November 30th while others will be brought back on December 03, 2020.

Ruth Babirye, a resident of Buloba Village says that her brother Kato Ssempebwa was picked from his workplace and he was taken to police saying that he was among the people who were protesting.
