Gulu University community is gripped with shock after a student was found dead in his hostel room.
Alex Nyero, a second year student of Computer science was found dead in his room this morning. His friends last saw him on Monday evening.
Richard Apire, a friend of the deceased said he last saw Nyero yesterday and was this morning concerned as to why Nyero\'s door remained unusually locked this morning.
Johnson Kilama, the police spokesperson for northern Uganda, says police have opened an investigation into Nyero's death. Nyero's body has been taken to Gulu independent hospital for a post mortem.

Jackson Odong, the university Guild president, said the student community is still shocked by the circumstances under which Nyero died. He described him as a friendly boy who associated freely with everyone.
Scholastica Amito, the university's spokesperson said it was the second time a student was being found dead from the hostel room.
Last year, Juliet Munduru, a Second Year Bachelor of Business Administration, was also found dead in her hostel room. It later emerged that two sisters who were her friends beat her to death.
The two secondary school girls were charged with manslaughter and sentenced to eight years in prison.
