The arrested security guard has been identified as Luke Nziku, attached to SGA security company limited while the injured victim has been identified as Simon Wadiya.
The police in Masindi have arrested a private security guard for
allegedly shooting a civilian.
The guard has been identified as Luke Nziku,
attached to SGA security company limited, while the injured victim is Simon Wadiya.
Information gathered by Uganda Radio Network (URN) indicates
that Nziku, on Monday, went to Quilox bar situated along Sebagala street in
Masindi town and requested a bottle of beer. After drinking the alcohol,
he declined to pay for it.
This resulted in a confrontation between him and Wadiya, who is a bouncer at the bar.
In the process, Nziku, who was armed, fired
several bullets, and one of the bullets hit Wadiya in the thigh, critically injuring him. He was rushed to Masindi General Hospital, where he is
currently admitted. Nziku immediately fled the area after the incident.
Residents and the bar management immediately alerted the
police, who started pursuing the suspect. He was arrested
in Masindi town
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
