Police have launched a hunt for the thugs who hacked a private security guard.

Emmanuel Eleme 23, of Exodus Private Security firm, was deployed with a baton for night duties at Net Car Wash, located at Ssanga Cell, Gombe Division, in Nansana Municipality.

Eleme was deployed to guard the premises that double as a washing bay and night parking for both motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Hussein Ssenfuma, the proprietor of Net Car Wash said Eleme was found lying dead in a pool of blood.

“Our Askari was attacked and hacked to death by unknown people. We called the police and they came and picked up the body. We have realized the attacker stole a new Bajaj Boxer motorcycle which was in the parking,” Ssenfuma said.

According to Ssenfuma, the stolen brand-new Bajaj Boxer UFZ 728D belonged to Gerald Waswa.  Matugga police officers according to Senior Superintendent of Police –SSP Patrick Onyango have started the hunt for Eleme’s killers.

“Police in Matugga are investigating a case of aggravated robbery and murder. The deceased was a security guard deployed by Exodus private security firm. He was severely hacked in the head and he died,” SSP Onyango said.

Ssenfuma is a resident of Katalemwa, Matugga town council, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District. Police’s preliminary findings show Eleme was targeted during the heavy rain in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

“The deceased was deployed alone armed with a baton. The thugs took advantage of the heavy rain last night to attack the place. The thugs gained entry and exited the scene by cutting the fence. No killer weapon was recovered at the scene,” SSP Onyango said.

Onyango said there was a sign that more than one thug was involved and the deceased was tied in the mouth with a piece of cloth. “The scene was too much for one guard and ill-equipped with the necessary tools to guard the place. The hunt for the suspects has commenced,” SSP Onyango said.

Ssenfuma said the thugs also attempted to steal another bike UFZ-096 and damaged its lock system using a pit axe.

Thugs armed with rudimentary weapons such as iron bars, machetes, knives, and clubs have often attacked and killed private security guards.
