The cows were recovered on Tuesday
night during a manhunt for the suspected rustlers following their raid in Biwaga
Parish in Lira-Kato Sub County on Monday night.
Ojok, the Agago District LC V Chairperson told URN this morning that security traced
the footmarks of the suspected rustlers forcing them to abandon the cattle and
flee for dear life. He says the security team managed to arrest seven youth including
Acholi and Karamojong natives as prime suspects in the theft.

The suspects are in custody at Patongo Police Station. Security has withheld the
identities of the suspects for fear of jeopardizing their investigations.
Charles Omona, one of the community members who took part in
the operation said that cattle rustlers have been a cause of unrest in the
area and caused sleepless nights among cattle keepers. Yunus Sedirumbi, the Officer In-charge of Patongo Police Station, said that he
was yet to receive a report about the recovered cattle. Agago District lies
astride Abim and Kotido districts.
According to the police annual crime report for 2020 released last week, 1,768
heads of cattle were rustled and 617 were recovered. The report
further indicates that 19 people were killed during the rustling while 15
sustained serious injuries.
