Security Operatives Bust Cannabis Racket in Kabale

Security authorities in Kabale have bust a racket of cannabis smokers in Kabale municipality.

More than 50 cannabis smokers were nabbed during an operation in the out skirts of Kabale municipality.

Law enforcement agents neutralized the group in a special operation carried out yesterday.

They were found hiding in a bush close to a car washing bay at Rwakaraba Bridge, Nyabikoni ward Kabale municipality.

Julius Butamara, the Kabale district police commander, says five of the suspects were arrested but the rest fled into the thick bushes.

Police impounded a motorcycle which they believe was being used to source for cannabis from the neighboring villages. Police also recovered sacks of potatoes, cooking utensils and mattresses from the hideout.

The district police commander says that cannabis users are behind the recent spate of criminal activity in Kabale municipality.
