Security personnel in Kasese and Bundibugyo Districts have banned travel
documents issued by local council chairpersons.
Capt. Edwin Mawanda, the UPDF spokesperson Mountain Division says
the joint security force has resolved to ban the use of the permits from local leaders
after observing they were being abused.
Last month President Museveni said that transport restrictions
will remain in place for all the 40 districts that border Uganda and other
Mawanda says some people have been faking emergencies so that they
can carry passengers or travel at will. He added that they will accept
only travel permits from the office of the Resident District Commissioner.
