Sembabule district authorities have closed the boarding section at Sembabule RC Primary School and ordered all boarding pupils to return home.
The directive followed a second fire outbreak that destroyed one of the School buildings two weeks after the initial accident that destroyed a dormitory accommodating 46 pupils. Annet Patricia Nampeera, the school head teacher says they fire was detected from the roof by one of the teachers.
Sembabule District Police Commander Martin Tukahebwa says the repeated incident prompted them to close the school's boarding section, to enable thorough investigations into the incident. He adds that the concurrent fires are a threat to the lives of the pupils.
"Police has advised parents to take their children home to allow the school enough time to replace and improve boarding section requirements," he says.
The second incident at Sembabule RC primary school comes five days after another fire at Sembabule Parent's Primary School. Both affected schools are located in Sembabule Town Council and are not too far apart.
