Three service providers are demanding 1.7 Million Shillings from Pader district COVID 19 Taskforce for services offered to coronavirus patients and health workers.

They were contracted by the COVID 19 Taskforce to provide meals and security services for patients admitted at Kilak Corner Technical Institute which was gazetted as an isolation and treatment centre last year.

David Ongola, Anthony Okidi and Vicky Lalam Ojera all residents of Pader Kilak were each entitled to 10,000 Shillings per day.

Ongola says after working for 49 days they were instead each paid only 100,000 Shillings.

He adds that repeated pleas to the district task force over their pending pay have not been successful.

According to Ongola, each of the service providers is demanding 390,000 Shillings.

The service providers have now petitioned the offices of the district COVID 19 task force, the Resident District Commissioner, the LCV Chairperson and the Chief Administrative Officer seeking intervention.

Pader District Vice Chairperson Justine Ocen says that the matter has been presented before the district council for consideration.

According to Ocen, Pader district has received 498 Million Shillings from the central government towards response to the covid-19 second wave.

The Pader Resident District Commissioner Dusman Okee who doubles as the COVID 19 taskforce chairperson admits the service providers were not paid. He however says that they only offered cooking services since the district taskforce was already providing food for the patients.

Okee says he has not yet received a copy of the petition but he however pledged to make follow up on the matter to ensure the three are paid.
