Seven students of St Charles Lwanga in Koboko District have been arrested for masterminding a strike which led to the destruction of school property.

The students were arrested on Monday after an operation carried out by the police and UPDF soldiers.

The strike on Saturday started after the students accused the school administration for not feeding them on a balanced diet and failure to provide them with entertainment. The angry students smashed all the glass windows of the new computer laboratory and the headmaster’s office block.

Masimo Drici, the Headmaster of St. Charles Lwanga College Koboko said that the strike started on Saturday after three students were suspended because of cutting the school fence and sneaking out of the school premises.

According to reports, the three students who were earlier suspended by the school administration kept coordinating with other students inside the school to plan for the strike.

Koboko SS has 88 students who reported to the school following the re-opening of schools after the easing of the covid19 lock down on October 15th.

The school administration together with security personnel are now involved in series of meetings on the way forward as the seven students remain in police custody, while the rest of the students have been kept at the school for further investigations. Police and some UPDF officers are currently guarding the school.
