Spilling of sewerage in Mbale Taxi Park along Manafwa road in
Mbale Municipality has put businesses on a standstill.
The sewer line that has regularly burst flows through one of the
busiest road leading to the Taxi Park and Mbale Central market.
The sewerage has created a pool of water which flows inside the taxi and the bus
parks posing a danger to the lives of people operating in the area.
Ssalongo Hussein, a trader dealing in fresh fruits said that authorities of
Mbale Municipal Council have failed to improve the sanitation in town and
demolishing buildings constructed on the sewer lines.

Mbale Municipal Council Town Clerk Paul Batanda said they have
informed the NWSC about the sewerage problem and are awaiting their response.
He says that most of the buildings sitting on sewer lines have
approved plans from Mbale municipal council and demolishing them will require
compensating the owners.
