Erick Mutumba, the Kanungu district water engineer says Kyeshero is a water-stressed area and it
is receiving a water project for the first time so residents need to protect it
once completed. He, however, warned that water will not be for free, saying that residents will be paying a small maintenance
fee of 4,000 Shillings per month.
While commissioning the project,
the Kanungu Resident District Commissioner Hajj Shafiq Sekandi, called for the protection of water sources and wetlands, asking residents to desist from the habit of planting trees in the wetland as it
has caused water-related problems in the district.
Henry Mutumba who
represented the district chairperson cautioned the contracted firm against
doing shoddy work and a product quality in line with bills of quantities to
ensure proper accountability for taxpayers' money.
The project was
contracted to Dalkam Technologies ltd.
