Uganda Defeats Scotland in Netball World Cup

The Scottish goal scorer Emma Barrie and Lyndsey Gallagher scored ten points in the third quarter But could not outmatch Uganda's combination of Stella Oyella and Peace Proscovia. Oyella, who scored 28 out of the 52 points, was eventually named the most outstanding player of the game.
The National Netball team, She Cranes has defeated Scotland to proceed to the next stage of the best 12 teams at the ongoing Netball World Cup in Liverpool, United Kingdom. 

The team scored 52 points against Scotland's 43 in a game played on Sunday.  This was Uganda's last game in Group D after a win against Samoa and a loss to England. Uganda maintained a lead through out the game, despite a spirited fight by the Scottish.

Oyella has played centre in the previous games against Samoa and England. During her post-match interview, Oyella said that she will be changing positions throughout the World Cup in order to enable Uganda advance further.

The Assistant Coach for Uganda, Nelson Bogere lauded the team for beating Scotland, which is ranked seventh in the world, a place behind Uganda. He also praised Oyella for a great performance as goal attacker.

"Stella is a goal attacker and goal scorer and we have started training her as centre and she is doing well."

Uganda will now proceed to the next stage of the best 12 teams which will be played on Friday.
