Uganda She Cranes have finished in sixth position at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia. Twelve teams including three from Africa qualified for the Games.
In a classification match for 5-6th position played on Thursday South Africa defeated the She Cranes 53-42. Ine-Mari Venter scored a game high 42 goals from 46 attempts.
Stella Oyella scored 22 goals, while Peace Proscovia scored 19 goals for Uganda.
In the group stage the She Cranes lost the opening game 64-51 to New Zealand before recovering to stop sixth world ranked Malawi 54-52.
They later lost 55-49 to England before humbling Wales 76-40 on Tuesday and stopping Scotland 57-37 on Wednesday. In the 7-8th classification match Malawi defeated Northern Ireland 60-52, while Scotland saw off Barbados in the 9-10th classification match.
World Champions Australia will face New Zealand, while England battle Jamaica in the semi final matches on Saturday.
Meanwhile Winnie Nanyondo qualified for the finals of the women's 800m when she finished in second position (2:00.69) in a race won by Kenya's Emily Cherotich Tuei. Docus Ajok and Halima Nakaayi failed to qualify for the finals when they finished fourth and fifth in their respective Heats.
