Six Losers in Teso Petition Court for Vote Recount

Six losers in the parliamentary elections in the Teso region have petitioned court demanding for a recount. 

The Soroti Chief Magistrate Monica Amono says that the applications received include those for Gweri constituency, Soroti County, Kapelebyong County, Woman district Ngora County and Woman MP Kumi district.

On Thursday, the Chief Magistrate’s court fixed hearing of a petition filed by Monica Amoding the incumbent Woman MP for Kumi district who lost to NRM Candidate Christine Apolot. The application will be heard on Monday. 

Some of the other people who have filed petitions include Ngora County loser Juliet Lodou Acayo.  Acayo lost to independent and incumbent candidate David Abala.

In Soroti County Daniel Eigu of FDC and independent Samuel Eninu, the two have filed a case for a recount against Patrick Aeku of NRM who was declared a winner by Joseph Mukwaya, the Soroti District Returning officer. Eigu polled 5,937 votes, Eninu got 6,001, a defeat to Aeku who garnered 6,048 votes.

In Kapelebyong County in Kapelebyong, Antony Esenu of NRM was declared a winner. Gweri County in Soroti district the FDC’S Julius Tom Ekudo was declared a winner.
