Six teachers at St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School in Bushenyi have been sacked for their alleged involvement in two student strikes.
Marry Kobusingye, Samson Odeck, John Bosco Ngabirano, Leonard Tumwebaze, Robert Ngabirano Bongye and Amon Azairwe are accused of masterminding two student strikes that rocked the school last term.
Their dismissal stems from recommendations by a probe committee which was set up to investigate the causes of strikes at St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School.
The committee chaired by Joab Wabwire, the Bushenyi District Police Commander, found out that the . Teachers allegedly engineered both strikes.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source told Uganda Radio Network on Tuesday that 60 students who were involved in the strike have also been expelled.
The deputy teacher, Prosy Kamugisha Kananga confirmed the development on phone but declined to divulge further details.
Last term, students of St. Kagwa staged a strike accusing their head teacher, Richard Tumusiime Wavamuno of transferring senior teachers from the school and replacing them with junior ones.
The students marched to the district headquarters before they turned violent forcing authorities to close the school.
