Soldier, Four others Arrested for Burning Woman Over Land

Irema, who is locked up at Rwampara central police station, is said to have killed his mother, Loy Ainomugisha Barimpa because of a feud on family land.
Rwampara Police are holding Private Saul Irema Barimpa, a UPDF soldier attached to Mountain Battalion in Fort portal for allegedly murdering his mother.

He was picked up together with his father Rogers Barimpa, his two brothers Innocent Gumoshabe, Esau Gumisiriza Esau and sister in-law Arinetwe Amelia. 

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, said that accused burnt their victim to ashes on Sunday in Bungyereza cell in Nyeihanga town council in Rwampara district.  

Irema’s young brother, Innocent Gumoshabe, says the soldier went to his home in Nyeihanga town council and informed him that he had killed their mother and burnt her body for selling their land without his knowledge.    

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, says some blood stains were found in the deceased’s room. 

He says they also recovered some pieces of bones from the fire in the banana plantation. 

He says police will forward the bones for forensic analysis to establish whether they belong to the deceased.
