Son Arrested over Luwandagga's Death

The arrest of William Luwandaga earlier today followed statements by the neighbors indicating that he and his younger brother had been fighting last night and intervention by their father could have resulted to his murder.
The son of veteran sports journalist Andrew Patrick Luwandagga has been arrested in connection to his abrupt death.

William Andrew Luwandagga, 30, is currently being detained at Katwe police station as inquiry into his father's death continues. Luwandagga died last night of reported heart failure at his home in Namasuba, a suburb of Kampala.

The arrest of William Luwandagga earlier today followed statements by the neighbors indicating that he and his younger brother had been fighting last night and intervention by their father could have triggered a condition that led to his death.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emillian Kayima says a postmortem report will be the determining factor on whether there was foul play in the death of the veteran journalist.

“Right now we cannot tell whether it was a heart attack or there was foul play. The postmortem report will determine that. We however cannot ignore the statements of the neighbors and that is why we have William in custody,” Kayima told URN.

The preliminary report into this investigation indicates that no strange markings were found on the neck of the deceased despite circulating rumors that Luwandagga could have been  strangled.
