The parish says the new structure has the capacity to seat 3000 people. The parish priest says they have so far injected over 500 million to the building that has already been roofed and plastered.

John Olupot, the Chairman Construction committee, told URN that they started building in December 2008. Olupot noted that the construction has been slow because the money they use has been coming from local donations from Christians and well-wishers.

The first church in Madera was built in 1914 and was grass-thatched but later upgraded in 1927 when the current church was put up.

The centenary celebrations event was graced by the PapalNuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Augustine Michael Blume, the Archbishop of Tororo, Emmanuel Obbo and his predecessor Emeritus Archbishop Kiwanuka Lote.
