Cue out …appointed him.”//

The letter to fire Ecuru was written on June 7th, 2019 and it states that his appointment as the Deputy Mayor has been revoked with immediate effect.

“You cease to and shall not represent the council in any form of gatherings, discussions, functions, meetings in the capacity of Deputy Mayor. You immediately cease to be a member and shall not attend the Executive Committee meetings of Soroti Municipal Council,” Part of the letter read.

“I bring to your notice that with immediate effect, I revoke Section 18(1) of the Local Government Act of powers vested upon me as the Chairperson of Council of your appointment,” the letter adds.

Sources that declined to be named allege that Ecuru interfered in the dubious sale of municipal plots without the knowledge of the council.

However, Ecuru denies the allegations. He says that the Mayor acted emotionally and his sacking could have been influenced by people whom he declined to name.
